About Us
The historic Sunnylands estate
Sunnylands is the former winter home of Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg. From 1966 through the early 2000s, many high-profile guests, including seven US presidents, British royalty, and world-famous entertainers, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and Dinah Shore visited the Annenbergs at Sunnylands. Today, The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands owns and operates the midcentury modern residence as a private high-level retreat center where global leaders at the highest levels in government, science, education, the arts, and philanthropy meet to address serious issues facing the nation and the world. Public access is limited to guided tours when retreats are not in session.
Sunnylands Center & Gardens
In 2012, the 17,000-square-foot Sunnylands Center & Gardens opened adjacent to the historic estate as a public community center, offering opportunities to learn about the Annenbergs' history at Sunnylands, the famous people who visited, and the Sunnylands Trust's contemporary mission to facilitate international agreement and promote world peace. Guests may take a tour of the historic estate, watch the film, ''A Place Called Sunnylands,'' view art exhibitions, engage in public programs, enjoy light bites and beverages in the café, purchase unique gift items in the shop, or explore 9 acres of beautiful desert gardens. Admission and parking are always free.
